Speaking to all of our Welsh fanbase, you will certainly like who we’ve just discovered. He is a singer-songwriter from the nations capital Cardiff, Wales and he goes by the name of Ben Ellis. Ben spent his whole childhood obsessed with music and has been singing all his life. He started busking on the streets of Cardiff and then found a love for songwriting at the beginning of the pandemic. Since then, he’s written songs by himself and with fellow singer-songwriters all over the world. Influenced by his love for indie and pop music, his music focuses on his love for spontaneity and the nostalgia that comes with growing up. He has since released two singles titled “Not This Time” and “Ed’s House”. His music has been featured on several Spotify editorial playlists, BBC Radio 1 “Future Pop,” and BBC Radio Wales’ “Welsh A-List.”
Ben Ellis new single “Sofia” which was released on May 3rd can be streamed on our playlist Heartbreak Hotel. The single “Sofia” was written about after a spontaneous trip Ben took to the rich historic capital city of Bulgaria, Sofia, where he ended up getting matching tattoos with strangers. Ben even travelled back there months later to film a music video with his best friends. When he posted the song to social media, he was soon inundated with over 2 million views, and hundreds of messages from people fascinated by his story and song. The song has already been featured on Bulgarian national news and Bulgarian radio stations and fans are calling Sofia the song of the summer, it is a very uplifting song and you can certainly dance to it all night long.
