11 Looks From 2021 Met Gala

Reading Time: 4 Minutes

The Met Ball formally known as the Costume Institute Gala is an annual fundraising gala in the prestigious Museum Of Art’s Costume Institute in Upper East Side, New York City.

Since 1948 upper echelons of society have marked the event as the night of all nights to be seen, more so since Diana Vreeland’s legacy in 1973 each year has been based on a theme which circulates the exhibition showncased earlier in the season. Over the years we’ve been dazzled with looks from ‘The World Of Balenciaga, The Glory of Russian Costume, Costumes Of Royal India, Gianni Versace, Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy, Charles James: Beyond Fashion and many more elaborate and intriguing themes among others.

2020 was a very uncertain time for many events and even one of the the most iconic events had the same unfortunate route to follow, yes it’s saddening that one did not get to see 2020’s Met Gala – About Time: Fashion and Duration chaired by Anna Wintour and sponsored by Louis Vuitton, however fashion never escapes us and it would only make 2021 more exciting to fitness first hand, celebrities have been off the social scene and there’s only so much room on the top platform.

The 2021 Met Gala ‘In America: A Lexicon Of Fashion’ had co chairs Timothée chalamet (Dune), Billie Eilish (Time 100 2021) and honorary chair Tom Ford. Furthermore it was sponsored by social media giant Instagram with a headline performance from one of the best selling artists of all time Justin Bieber.

In an event where you can wear classic vintage or plaid, the only thing that matters is that you have to look just right. Starting off this showcase at number 11 and in no particular order we have Evan Mock.

Number 11 – Evan Mock in Thom Browne
Number 10 – Kaia Gerber (AHS) in a strapless LBD by Oscar de la Renta
Number 9 – Lil Nas in Versace
Number 8 – Grimes ‘Iris Van Herpen Dune Inspired 3d Gown’
Number 7 – Rachel Zegler in Christian Dior
Number 6 – Rosé in Saint Laurent
Number 5 – Timothée chalamet wearing a Haider Ackermann blazer, Rick Owens top and Converse Chuck Taylors
Number 4 – Quannah Chasinghorse wearing Peter Dundas
Number 3 – Sienna Miller in Gucci
Number 2 – Gemma Chan worked with Prabal Garung on her elegant look and tribute was made to the first Chinese american film star of Hollywood’s golden era Anna May Wong.
Finishing off look Number 1 is Lili Reinhart wearing a Christian siriano dress featuring official flowers of all 50 states
