My excitement is riveting with good news, the official trailer has come out for the new installment of the Scream franchise. Although the first 4 were directed by the legendary Wez Craven (A Nightmare on Elm Street) who sadly passed away in 2015, his legacy remains on and we get to experience it all on the big screen on January 14 2022.
SPOILERS ALERT – Watch Trailer Above First
Is there a better first kill prompt than a text message to Amber from an unknown recipient at this point as we do not know the young brunette’s name saying “Mom’s out of town again, YOU should come over HERE. Free dinner. Many binge watch options”. Amber suggests she has to do better and what is on my mind at this point is Amber referring to her spelling or her suggestion, I mean without being harsh if you’re needy and using capitalized messages on your texts to make your friends feel bad, than frankly you earn yourself the title of first kill material, congratulations unknown recipient. The irony is as the messages progress we find out the text is not from Amber, red flags are saying Amber was victim 1 and this unknown recipient may happen to be the final girl, who knows we will have to wait and see if she survives her deadly encounter with Ghostface, all I know is I will not be installing home security that opens all the doors in the house to a masked killer.
What is rather interesting is that this new Ghostface is taking the role of judge and jury and specifically targeting relatives of the original killers, karma has a very unique way of coming around in this movie plot. As we progress through the trailer there are numerous attacks and a lovely quote from Sydney saying “I won’t sleep until he’s in the ground” wasn’t Scream 4 killer her own niece Jill played by the adorable Emma Roberts or is there a plot twist of Sydney suffering from memory loss, if not please Sydney wake up it’s 2021 the killer could be anyone, even those you least expect, plus you’ve encountered killers 4 times over the last 25 years they are much harder to kill than a simple bullet so perhaps a suggestion is that you should take stimulants as otherwise sleep deprivation will kill you before the killer.
That’s the trailer reviewed and besides the Sydney show (Neve Campbell) we also have returning fan favourites such as Gale Weathers (Courtney Cox), Dewey Riley (David Arquette) and Deputy Judy Hicks (Marley Shelton) which to fans of the show managed to survive her earlier encounter.
For those of you who are dying to know who the new recruits are they are Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Jack Quaid, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Sonia Ammar, Mason Gooding, Kyle Gallner and Mikey Madison who plays Amber as well as two deputies Reggie Conquest and Chester Tam. We already predict that Amber’s role will be small as there’s a very high likelihood she has perished and lets be fair deputies never survive in Scream, deep down we know that the majority of this cast have been added to increase the murder count of the small town.
I do hope that Jack Quaid character ‘Richie Quaid’ survives longer than his character Marvel in the Hunger Games trilogy and that Dylan Minnette character ‘Wes Hicks’ has a better day than Anthony in ‘Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day‘, perhaps he could ask his co star Bella Thorne for tips of what not to do in Scream and please Tyler Gillett do not give his character a car to drive. One individual I really do want to survive is Jenna Ortega’s character ‘Tara Carpenter’ and hopefully survive in the same way as ‘Phoebe’ did in ‘The Babysitter:Killer Queen‘.
