The Ghana Music Awards brings together some of the most influential people in the music industry, ranging from producers to artists and more. It was established as a platform to honour Ghanaian artists living in Ghana and the UK as well as to facilitate an environment for collaboration and cultural exchange between them.
Just like many other award evenings there are many categories involved such as “Male & Female Vocalist Of The Year”, “Songwriter Of The Year” and my personal favourite “Best Music Video Of The Year” as visuals are everything. Music videos are theatrical, creative and embody so much, they enable the viewer to really delve into the style that the artist is projecting and we certainly are excited to see who will win.
Without putting categories on pedestals, there’s always one that stands higher than the rest and to some individuals in the industry that would be the ‘Artiste Of The Year” category. Last year it was gospel musician Diana Hamilton who walked away with the coveted Artiste of the Year accolade, however this year it may be someone new and with the Ghana Music Awards UK largely being a people’s choice awards scheme, that choice can be yours.
