Ghana Music Awards 2022 UK “Artiste Of The Year Nominations”

Reading Time: 3 Minutes

The Ghana Music Awards brings together some of the most influential people in the music industry, ranging from producers to artists and more. It was established as a platform to honour Ghanaian artists living in Ghana and the UK as well as to facilitate an environment for collaboration and cultural exchange between them.

Just like many other award evenings there are many categories involved such as “Male & Female Vocalist Of The Year”, “Songwriter Of The Year” and my personal favourite “Best Music Video Of The Year” as visuals are everything. Music videos are theatrical, creative and embody so much, they enable the viewer to really delve into the style that the artist is projecting and we certainly are excited to see who will win.

Without putting categories on pedestals, there’s always one that stands higher than the rest and to some individuals in the industry that would be the ‘Artiste Of The Year” category. Last year it was gospel musician Diana Hamilton who walked away with the coveted Artiste of the Year accolade, however this year it may be someone new and with the Ghana Music Awards UK largely being a people’s choice awards scheme, that choice can be yours.

Nominations For Artiste Of The Year 2022

Black Sherif is known for his March 2022 single titled “Kwaku The Traveller” which peaked at number 1 on the Ghanaian and Nigerian Apple Music Charts.

King Promise is a signee of the record label Legacy Life Entertainment.

KiDi who won the coveted “Artiste Of The Year” award at the 2022 Ghana Music Awards, will he win in the UK, only you can decide.

Sarkodie is considered one of the most successful African rappers of all time and he is also a business owner owning “The Sark By Yas” clothing line and a very generous man having launched “The Sarkodie Foundation”, a non profit organisation dedicated to supporting underprivileged children.

Kuami Eugene was crowned “Artist Of The Year” and “High-life Artist Of The Year” at the 2020 Ghana Music Awards and he hopes to claim more awards this year around.

Stonebwoy is a Ghanaian Afropop, dancehall and reggae musician, who is also the CEO of Burniton Music Group and an actor of which starred in the 2014 movie Happy Death Day. This will be his first-year reappearance since he was banned during the 20th edition of Vodafone Ghana Music Awards after pulling a gun out on stage likely in an attempt to stop the conflict between his fans and his music rival Shatta Wale.

Celestine Donkor has such a warm presence and warmth reaps the reward. In March 2021, she was among the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music by the 3Music Awards Women’s Brunch and won Gospel Act Of The Year at the 2022 event.

Diana Hamilton needs no introductions, she was crowned “Artiste Of The Year” and “Gospel Artist Of The Year” at the 2021 Ghana Music Awards on June 26 with her song “Adom” and alongside Celestine was among the Top 30 Most Influential Women in Music by the 3Music Awards Women’s Brunch.

We wish all nominees in every category the utmost best.

The main event takes place on October 29, 2022, and tickets will be released in due course.
